ボディ右後ろについているはずのバックアップランプがキットに入ってないのに今頃気がつきました。 ボディの曲面部分から生えているので、ちょっと工夫が必要です。まず適当な太さの真鍮パイプを真鍮板に半田付けします。 その後リューターやヤスリを使ってボディの曲面になじむように削ります。 ライトの部分はポルシェ７１８の時にも使ったウェーブのＲリベットの裏をシルバーに塗ってつけました。

I just noticed the backup light is missing from the kit. This is a bit tricky as the light is attached to a curved surface. I soldered a brass pipe to a brass sheet so that I have something to hold, then used Dremel and files to shape one end so that it fits to the car body. The light lens is Wave's R-rivet, which I used for Porsche 718, with the back painted in silver.
もうひとつ忘れてました、ヘッドライト周りの黒いモールド（シール？）です。 0.2mmの銅線を現物あわせにして、長さが決まったら２ミリほどオーバーラップさせて半田付けします。 その後ヤスリやペーパーで根気よく継ぎ目を目立たないように消して、つや消し黒を吹きました。 接着は下の写真の瞬間接着剤を使いました。透明パーツが白く曇らないタイプらしいですが、 最近入手したばかりで透明パーツにはまだ使ったことがありません。
その他ウィンカーやドアハンドルなど小物をつけていきます。 キットに入っているウィンカーは1.5mmですが、フェンダー横には大きすぎ、ヘッドライトの隣のには小さすぎる感じです。 フェンダー横はトロンの1mm、ヘッドライト隣のはウェーブのRリベットの2mmを使いました。
あとはボンネットのバッジ、窓ガラスとワイパーだけ（のはず）。もう少しです。

I forgot to do one more thing; the seals around the headlights. I used 0.2mm copper wires. I solder them to make rings then used files and sand papers to make the joint smooth. Finally I sprayed flat black on them. I used the super glue in the second picture. The glue is supposed to be non-fogging type though I haven't got chance to use on clear parts yet.
Then I'm attaching small parts such as turn signals or door handles. The turn signal lamps in the kit is about 1.5mm, but it looks bit too big for the small ones, and bit too small for the large ones. I used Tron's 1mm aftermarket lamps for the small ones, and Wave's R-rivet 2mm for the large ones.
The items left are the badge on the front hood, windows and the wipers. Getting close to the end!
うーん、終わると思ったんですが時間切れ。
リアクオーターウィンドウは前半分がスライドして開けられるようになってるみたいです。 小さいラッチがついてるので、細切りにした薄い真鍮板をＬ字型に半田付けしてから、小さく切り出してウィンドウに貼り付けました。
そのほか薄い透明プラ板を使ってウィンドウを貼り付けていきました。 フロントウィンドウ以外は平面なので問題ありません。フロントウィンドウは先週ご紹介した瞬間接着剤を使いました。 確かに白く曇ったりしませんが、接着に30秒から一分くらいかかります。ちょっとはみ出してしまったので、またやり直しです。

Hmm, I thought I could finish it this week...
The front pane of rear quarter window slides to open. There's a small latch on it. I soldered two thin strips of brass sheet into an angle bar, then cut out the target pieces and glued onto the panes.
I used think clear sheet styrene from Evergreen for the windows. All windows except the windshield are flat and I had no problem with them. I used the super glue from the last week post to glue the windshield. It works as advertised, though working time seems longer than usual ones (30 to 60 seconds). I made some mess on the windshield at the first try. I'll give it another.
フロントガラスおよびモールの取り付けには相当苦労しました。 真鍮板に洋白線を半田付けしてあるのでかなり頑丈で、エッチングみたいに簡単にボディになじんでくれません。 上側をまずエポキシで接着してから、下側はボディとの隙間が開かないように押さえながら、瞬間接着剤で固定しました。 製作初期にも書きましたが、窓枠はキットのモールドを生かして、内側からウィンドウを貼り付けるのが楽でしたね。 ヘッドライトバイザーはつけてみたらヘッドライトがよく見えなくなってしまうのでやめました。
そのほかフロントガラスに貼る車検関連のデカールを作ってみましたが、インクジェットプリンタでは上から保護のクリアを吹いても、 パターンぎりぎりのところでカットすると水につけてしばらくするとにじんでしまいます。 アルプスプリンタで作らないとダメですか。リアハッチの最大積載量のデカールは実車ではリアライトの下に貼ってありますが、 キットにはそんなスペースは無いので、説明書の指定の位置に貼りました。
フェンダーミラーはキットのパーツを磨いて保護のクリアーを吹きました。ワイパー基部は手芸用の極小ビーズをつけました。 そしてようやく完成！9ヶ月かかってしまいました。始めた当初は半分くらいの時間で終わると思ったんですがねー。
完成を祝って、ほかのバブルカーのモデルと一緒に記念写真。 完成だと思って写真をとって、あとからワイパーをつけてないのに気がついた、というのは内緒です（笑）

Attaching the windshield was rather difficult. The frame (or rubber seal & molding) is made of brass sheet and nickel-silver wire. It's stiff and doesn't follow the body like a photo-etched parts would. First I glued the top of the frame with epoxy. After it cured, I applied the super glue on the bottom edge while pressing it against the body. As I wrote before, probably it would be much easier if I didn't remove the molding of the windshield frame. I decided not to use the headlight visors since they make the headlight difficult to see.
I made decals for the stickers on the windshield. But they are made by ink jet printer and bleed when they are cut very close to the pattern. I need to use some decal printing service that uses Alps printer.
I polished the fender mirrors and put clear coat to protect them from tarnishing. I used very small beads for the base of the wipers. Finally it's done! It took 9 months to finish. At the beginning I thought I could finish this model about half of the time.
Here are other models of bubble cars I have. The reason the Subaru doesn't have wipers is because I took the picture believing I finished it while actually it wasn't the case :)
